I was shocked and saddened when I heard the news of Ken's passing from WTIC sportscaster Scott Gray. Listening to his wonderful commentary on Ken's life, I recalled my own association with him over 40 years ago. I was the student trainer of the University of Hartford basketball and baseball teams in the late 60's and even though many years have passed, I still remember many good times with Ken. Whether in the locker room, on the team bus or at a fraternity party, he was always part of any fun taking place.
Even though we weren't in regular contact over the years, Ken would occasionally send me a picture from the old days or let me know about an alumni function. After reading the tributes from his friends, former students, and colleagues, he apparently made a tremendous impact on many lives.
My sincere condolences to Ken's wife and family, and especially to Augie who I'm sure lost his best friend. Please know that he leaves a great legacy that any family would be proud of. I'm just glad that I had a chance to know him.
