The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Ronald Georgeff can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Paul Spencer

He was such a gentleman. Ron had strong convictions about reporting the news, and he expressed them directly, but even in the cauldron of newsroom disagreements, I cannot recall him uttering an unkind word or raising his voice. He was a skilled newsman, and generous in sharing his knowledge with younger colleagues like me. I learned a great deal about editing from Ron, particularly about the importance of clarity. He took visible delight in stories that untangled complicated issues or provided unconventional insight. Sitting beside him on the news desk at the Courant, I felt he conveyed an unspoken sense of responsibility to the reading public. To my memory, he never indulged the newsroom tradition of complaining about the workload. He never mentioned his own physical struggle. He had a gentle demeanor and a warm smile. It was a privilege to know and to work with him.
