Obituary for William Joseph "Bill" Webb

William J. “Bill” Webb, 68, of Wethersfield, CT passed away peacefully with his family and friends by his side at Hartford Hospital on December 4, 2015. Bill was born on January 1, 1947 in Hartford, CT. He was the son of the late William A. & Irene (Gervais) Webb. Bill was a man who dedicated his life to serving others. A US Marine veteran, he reluctantly retired as a Captain of the Hartford Fire Department after having a heart attack in 1990. He then went on to pursue a second career as an Interpreter for the Deaf. After continuing with his education he earned a Masters in Social Work. He then continued onto a third career in service work caring for people at CVH. In his retirement, Bill volunteered with Masonicare Hospice, making others’ last days peaceful. Bill helped hundreds of people in his life, more than he ever realized. Bill had many interests and hobbies. He held a HAM radio license “KX1A” and had made contacts all over the world and some as close as down the road in Rocky Hill. He was a Civil War enthusiast and was a Member of the First Battery CT Light Artillery cannon crew. His interests and talents ranged from building model submarines, to collecting fossils, minerals, coins, and anything under the sun that caught his interest. His greatest love was sitting with family on his back porch with a glass of scotch, watching the birds, discussing history and life. He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Lori (Lulek) Webb, two children Anne Webb Downey, Christopher & his wife Dr. Natalie Webb, two granddaughters Abigail and Eloise Webb, a sister, Judy Webb and many close family and dear friends. Please join us for his services of remembrance as follows: Visitation for friends and family will be Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 4-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Bill’s life will be Wednesday, December 9th at 10am in Sacred Heart Church, 56 Hartford Ave., Wethersfield. Interment will follow the Mass in Rose Hill Memorial Park (Section 15), 580 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. The Webb Family would like to send their sincerest thanks to the staff of Hartford Hospital’s ICU and Step Down Units. You are a wonderful group of people. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice, 111 Founders Plaza, Suite 200, East Hartford, CT 06108 or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Please remember to treat each other with kindness and offer an act of service to a friend or stranger, in his name.
