Obituary for William T. Byrne

William T. Byrne, 88, of Wethersfield, loving husband of Beverly
(Oxford) Byrne peacefully passed away with his family around him on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Apple Rehab Cromwell. He was born August 28, 1926 and raised in Hartford, son of the late James and Ruth (Fitzsimmons) Byrne, and was a graduate of Weaver High. Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II as well as a lifetime member of the VFW, Post 9945. He retired from Pratt & Whitney as a security guard. Along with his wife, Beverly, Bill is survived by his sister Anne Begley of Wethersfield; son Kevin Byrne and his wife Elaine, of Wethersfield; daughter Carleen Wood and her husband Doug, of Cromwell, as well as three grand children, Jason, Matthew and Courtney; a great grandchild Chace and five wonderful nieces. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother James Byrne and sister Ruth Thorner. Bill's family extends a special thanks to the entire staff at Apple Rehab Cromwell for the love and care they gave Bill in his final years. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family Thursday May, 28, 2015 at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, from 10:00am – 12:00pm at which time a Memorial Service remembering Bill’s life will be celebrated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the recreation dept. at Apple Rehab Cromwell, 156 Berlin Rd., Cromwell, CT 0641 or Operation Smile, 3641 Faculty Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23453.
