Obituary for Veronica Dajczak (Mikluszka)

Veronica Mikluszka Dajczak, 87, of Wethersfield, formally of East Hartford, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014. Born in Poland, September 3, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Jan and Pelagia Mikluszka. Veronica immigrated to the United States with her husband Michael in 1948. She was employed by Underwood Typewriter and later Hartford Hospital, where she retired from in 1988 after 40 years of dedicated service. After her retirement, Veronica and Michael traveled to many destinations, including Spain, Portugal, Jerusalem, Alaska, and Hawaii, her favorite being Italy, where she exchanged a personal greeting with now Saint John Paul II. She was a communicant and member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, along with its Rosary Society, and Ladies’ Guild. Veronica loved to cook and bake, always prepared, having “just a little something” on hand for anyone who dropped in. Ask for a recipe and she would tell you that she didn’t use a recipe. Veronica was predeceased by her husband Michael of 56 years and her sister Anna Jarema of Poland. She leaves behind and will be fondly remembered by her loving family; her daughter, Diane Rand and her husband Thomas, of Wethersfield, with whom Veronica lived with for the past 6 years; two adored granddaughters, Jennifer Pearl and her husband John, of Enfield, Kristina Rand of Boston; her nieces and nephews, Krystyna Baldyga and Ryzard Jarema, Jan and Bronek Dajczak, all of East Hartford, Dareck Jarema and Halina Dajczak, both of Poland; as well as several grand nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family, Wednesday, May 14 from 5-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Veronica’s life will be Thursday, May 15 at 10am in SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 63 Popieluszko Court, Hartford.
