Thomas Philip “10-4” Sheridan, 82, of Rocky Hill, formerly of East Hartford, devoted husband to the late Patricia (White) Sheridan, entered into eternal rest Monday, November 24, 2008. Born in Hartford, he was the son on the late Michael F. and Ruth (Schulstad) Sheridan. A U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, Tom was an Iwo Jima survivor serving aboard the USS Southampton, receiving a Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, as well as the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal with two stars. Tom raised his family and lived for over 40 years in East Hartford before relocating to Rocky Hill. He began working for the U.S. Postal Service at age sixteen and after forty nine years retired as the Manager of Vehicle Maintenance. Tom leaves his sons, Atty. Thomas P. Sheridan and his wife Nancy of Glastonbury, Philip J. Sheridan and his wife Kathleen of Colchester, Peter J. Sheridan and his wife Kimberly of Colchester; as well as his daughter-in-law, Suzanne Sheridan of Colchester. Tom was blessed with loving grandchildren, Erin Sheridan of Glastonbury, Meghan and Rory Murray of Raleigh, N.C. , Cara Sheridan of Old Lyme, Kevin Sheridan of Phoenix, AZ, and Brett Sheridan of Glastonbury, great grand children, Mary Murray of Raleigh, N.C, and Michael P. Sheridan of Colchester. He is further survived by his sisters, Elida Mangan of Miami, FL, and Mary Manno of Coral Springs, FL. Tom also leaves a good friend and companion, Persis Belcher of South Windsor. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his son, Michael F. Sheridan and his brother Francis M. Sheridan. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 9am from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave, Glastonbury, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 280 Brook St. Rocky Hill. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd. Bloomfield. Friends and relatives may call on the family Friday, November 28, from 4-8pm at the Funeral Home.
