Thomas A. Kask, 77, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband of 55 years to Monica (Baker) Kask, passed away peacefully, Monday, July 1, 2013 at Hartford Hospital. Thomas was born February 13, 1936 in New Britain, son of the late Florence (Skarzynski) and Frank Kask. He resided in New Britain, then Hartford, prior to moving to Rocky Hill 51 years ago. He was a Field Engineer for IBM prior to his retirement after 34 years of dedicated service. Thomas was actively involved in Town Government as a member of the Rocky Hill Board of Education serving many years as the Board Chairman, along with being a member of the Wethersfield Cove Yacht Club, and the United States Power Squadron, where he taught proper boating procedures and navigation classes. Thomas had a passion for life, enjoying many happy days fishing the waters of Long Island Sound, and traveling, to Bermuda and Maine. He was a lifelong learner, accomplished in photography, computers, as well as being a skilled craftsman; he could do anything he set his mind to. He was a parishioner of St. James and Sacred Heart Churches. Thomas’s greatest joy in life was his loving family. He will be fondly remembered by the love of his life and best friend Monica. His memory will be cherished by his son, Edward Kask and his fiancé, Beth Curran, of Wethersfield; his daughters, Deborah Keough of Rocky Hill, Susan McDonald and her husband Michael, of Avon; sons Joseph Kask and his wife LouAnn, of Durham, James Kask and his wife Karen, of Glastonbury; in addition to his twelve adored grandchildren, Thomas, Joseph M., Christopher, Timothy, Samantha, Elizabeth, Brenna, Joseph A., Caitlin, Emily, Allison, and James. Along with his parents, Thomas was predeceased by his brother, Paul A. Kask. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Kask family on Friday, July 5, 2013, from 4-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Thomas’s life will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 9:30am in St. James Church, 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill, attendees are asked to go directly to the church.
