Sophie (Rudy) Kachnir, 87 of East Hartford, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Hartford Hospital. Sophie was born, April 24, 1925, and raised in Hartford, daughter to the late Dimitro and Anna (Adamick) Rudy. She resided in Hartford most of her life, moving to East Hartford 14 years ago. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for many years for the Days Inn Hotels. The most important thing in her life was her family and the time they spent together. Sophie will be fondly remembered by her loving family, her two daughters, Doreen Kachnir, with whom she resided with, and Gloria Signorello, both of East Hartford; two cherished grandsons, Michael Signorello, and Jason Houle.; and her three adoring great grandchildren, Jason, Emma, and Isabelle; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Sophie was predeceased by her five siblings, Tessie Goldberg, Helen E. Pangonis, Steve, Mike, and Paul Rudy. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Sophie’s life will be held Friday, April 12, 2013 at 10am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, New London Tpke, Glastonbury. There are no calling hours. The family requests in lieu of flowers, and that memorial donations be made in Sophie’s name to the National Kidney Foundation, CT Chapter, 1463 Highland Avenue, Cheshire, CT 06410-1216.
