Robert P. “Bobby” Sullivan, husband of Mary-Anne (Mahoney) Sullivan passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2013 surrounded by his loving family and dear friends. He was born in Hartford on September 8, 1950, son of the late Robert P. and Kathleen “Pat” (Shea) Sullivan. Bob graduated from St. Augustine School, South Catholic High School, Class of ’68 and the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Services in New York. He was the President and co-owner of the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Homes, serving the families of the Greater Hartford area as a licensed funeral director for over 40 years. Bob was always grateful for the opportunity to pursue his lifelong dream of working in his family’s funeral home with his father, mother and brothers. He found tremendous joy and fulfillment in helping others during their time of need. He was a very generous person who was well known throughout Greater Hartford for his kindness, engaging good nature and sense of humor. He was a member of the Irish American Home Society for many years, a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Hartford Council 11, BPOE Lodge #19, the Greater Hartford Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, the Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, Wethersfield Civitan and the St. Paul’s Church Men’s Club. He truly enjoyed working the Tuesday night Bingo at St. Paul’s. Besides his wife, Bob leaves his three children, Maura A. Sullivan of Shelton, Robert M. Sullivan and Michael F. Sullivan both of Wethersfield, two brothers, Kevin Sullivan and his wife Betty of Old Lyme and Tom Sullivan and his wife Peggy of Rocky Hill. He also leaves behind his Aunt Dot and her husband Jim Tuohy of West Hartford, cousins MaryLou (Tuohy) Duffy and her husband Jim, Gerilyn (Tuohy) Eagan and her husband Mike , two brothers–in-law Vincent R. and Gemma Mahoney, Richard C. and Ann Mahoney and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnephews and cousins. The funeral will be held Wednesday April 10, 2013 at 9:00 am from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield, Ct followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St. Wethersfield, Ct. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery 453 Fairfield Ave. Hartford, CT. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-7 pm Tuesday April 9, 2013.
