Obituary for Richard M. Foran

Richard M. Foran, of Wethersfield, formerly of Newington, husband of Joanne (McDonald) Foran, passed away Friday, December 25, 2015 after a brief illness. He was born in Hartford, son of the late Michael and Catherine (McMahon) Foran and lived in the area most of his life. He enlisted in the U.S.Navy during Post-WWII. After returning from the service, Richard joined the Steamfitters Local 218 of Hartford and was an active member for 38 years, holding numerous unpaid positions. He was a member of the Newington Council of the Knights of Columbus, Hartford Moose Lodge 723 and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He was a communicant of St. Luke Church, Hartford. Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather, totally devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved unconditionally and gave willingly to friends, neighbors and anyone he met. Besides his wife, Richard leaves his children and their families, David Foran, his wife Patricia and their children Juliana and Jonathan of Reston, VA, Michael Foran, his wife Laura and their children Annina and Joseph. Of New Britain, Mary (Katie) Parmenter and her children, Megan, Lindsey and Christy of Middletown, Richard P. Foran, his wife Rachel and their son Nicholas of Manchester and Amy Giveans, her husband Richard and their children Connor and Kiera of Portland. He also leaves his brother Walter and his wife Marge of FL, his sister-in-law Elizabeth Stewart and her husband Charles(Buzz), his lifelong friends, Philip and Ann Gallicchio, Gert Conroy, Bill and Peggy Dawson, Jim O’Boyle and many nieces, nephews and friends. Richard was pre-deceased by a brother John Foran and his wife Mary, a sister Patricia O’Toole and her husband Martin and a brother-in-law, Fr. David McDonald.
Friends may call on Monday December 28, 2015 from 4-7 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday December 29, 2015 in St. Luke Church, 66 Bolton St., Hartford. All attendees are asked to go directly to church. Burial will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd, Bloomfield.
