Pietro Lucente, 83, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband of Iole (Lucci) Lucente for 55 years, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his family. Pietro was born March 8, 1930 in Pratola Peligna, province of L’Aquila, Italy, son of the late Michele and Anna (Pizzaferrato) Lucente. He left Italy in 1949, living and working in Venezuela until coming to the United States in 1957, settling in the Hartford area. Prior to his retirement, Pietro was employed by the Patent Scaffolding Company in Hartford for 34 years and he also served as the Shop Steward for the Teamsters Local 559. Pietro loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening and lending a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by all. Besides his loving wife Iole, he leaves behind two daughters, Anna Dombrowski and her husband Joseph of New Hartford, and Diana Chudy and her husband Boguslaw of Rocky Hill, and one son, Michael Lucente and his wife Donna of Rocky Hill; eight loving grandchildren Joanna and her fiancé Chris Unick, Michael and his wife Denise, Julia, and Kristen Dombrowski; Peter and Krystina Chudy; and Erica and Peter Lucente. Pietro also leaves two sisters, Delia Santilli of Newington and Maria DiBacco of Italy; two brothers-in-law, Venanzio Lucci and his wife Lucy, and Mauro Lucci; three sisters-in-law, Luisa DelMonaco, Adele Mancini and her husband, Antonio and Nunziatina Lucente; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Aldo and a grandson Peter Dombrowski. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 5 at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd, Wethersfield, CT. The funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, February 6 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. James Church, 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill, CT.
