Phyllis C. Weir, 86, was escorted to her heavenly home by angels on Friday afternoon (March 30, 2012). Phyllis was born on March 14, 1926, in Schenectady, NY, daughter of William and Grace (Wickham) Colls, and was the widow of John D. “Jack” Weir, who passed away in October, 1981. As a long time resident of West Hartford, CT she enjoyed her daily walks through the Center and the Resevoir. After retiring from CBT she enjoyed monthly bus trips to NYC to see Broadway plays with her friends and family. She enjoyed visiting other countries and different parts of the US. Her favorite “job” was taking care of her grandchildren. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and the Elmwood Community Center. Phyllis was an avid sports fan especially the NY Yankees, UConn basketball and watching golf. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandson play soccer, baseball, hockey, and basketball. Phyllis spent the last two years of her life at Mountain Laurel Senior Living community in Glastonbury. She is survived by her daughter Nancy, her son-in-law Bruce Berlet, of Glastonbury and her son Timothy Weir and his wife Liz, of Chester Springs, PA. She was so very proud of her grandchildren, Brooke Berlet of Glastonbury, Timothy Weir Jr. and his fiancé Lauren of Hoboken, NJ, and Erik Weir of Austin, TX. She delighted in visits from her great grandson Ryan who affectionately referred to her as “GG”. She leaves behind her sister Margorie Hughes and her husband Richard of Strongsville, OH and sister in law Connie Colls of Vinton, VA. and many loved ones including Bill, Karyl, Bob, David, Beverly, Debbie, Mary, Matt, Rich and Wendy. She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years Jack, her brothers Robert and William Colls, and her infant son Gerry. The family would like to thank Mountain Laurel Senior Living Center for their loving care of Phyllis while she was there. The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 9:00am from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Trinity Church 53 Capital Ave., Hartford. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Ave., West Hartford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-7 pm Tuesday April 3. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hartford chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 321 Research Parkway, Suite 212, Meriden, CT 06450 or Jubilee House, A Sponsored Ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 40 Clifford St., Hartford, CT 06114-1717.
