Nicholas L. Serdechny, 92, Wethersfield resident since 1968, beloved husband of Catherine (Benz) Serdechny, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Hartford Hospital. Born January 6, 1920 and raised in Hartford, Nicholas was the son of the late Lawrenty and Anna (Resnick) Serdechny. He attended Hartford Schools, continuing his education at Hillyer College now the University of Hartford. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving our country in the United States Army Air Corp as an AP Mechanic, working on aircraft. This lead to his career with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford and 42 years of employment with Pratt & Whitney Small Tool Division in West Hartford. He was a member of Pratt & Whitney Small Tool Division Men’s Club, Corpus Christi Church, Wethersfield, and the Liederkrantz Choral Group of Hartford. We will miss his dry sense of humor, corny jokes, and comedic improvisation. Along with his wife Catherine, Nicholas will be lovingly remembered by his family; two sons and their spouses, John and Diane Serdechny of South Glastonbury, Ken and Linda Anderson of Old Saybrook; two brothers, Alexander Serdechny and his wife Marian, of East Hartford, Thomas Serdechny of Lafayette, NJ; three adoring granddaughters, Ashlee Anderson-Rivera, and twins, Christina Serdechny and Julia Serdechny; a cherished great granddaughter, Liliana Anderson-Rivera; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John Serdechny, and two sisters, Alice Baron, and Mary Balke. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family, Wednesday morning January 9, 2013 from 9:00am - 10:30am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield.
