Mary A. (Dubicki) Sikorski, 91, lifelong resident of Glastonbury, beloved wife of the late Joseph T. Sikorski, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 12, 2012, with her family by her side. Born March 21, 1921 in Glastonbury she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Kalishuk) Dubicki. Mary was a hard worker, holding many jobs at the same time. During World War II, she worked at Pratt and Whitney, making and inspecting engine parts. She was very proud of her role as a member of the “Greatest Generation”. The job which meant the most to her was caring for people who were home bound, in what was considered the original home health care. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She was always aware and concerned about each member of her extended family, and they held a special place in her heart. Mary will be fondly remembered by her loving family; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Carlene Sikorski of Glastonbury; her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Janet and Lynn Thompson, Pauline and Stephen Tine, all of South Glastonbury, and Theresa Sikorski of Glastonbury; her eight adoring grandchildren, Melanie, Vaughn(Melissa), Christine, Stephen Jr.(Theresa), Christopher(Diana), Catherine, Jessica, and Mitchell; along with her eleven cherished great grandchildren, Paige, Summer, Dakota, River, Tristan, Leaf, John, Isaiah, Liana, August, and one on the way; as well as a nephew, David (Cecile) Dutton, a niece, Kathy Backman; and a sister-in-law, Gladys Dubicki . In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn Sprague; three brothers, John, Paul, and Peter; and a sister, Agnes. We wish to thank Hospice nurses Eve Organek, and Mary King, and all the VNA staff, for all their assistance and aid to our mother Mary. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family on Friday, June 15 at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury, from 4-6pm. Funeral procession from Farley-Sullivan will commence on Saturday, June 16 at 8:45am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd. South Glastonbury. Interment will follow in Green Cemetery, Hubbard Rd., Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Mary’s name to CT Children’s Memorial Center Foundation, 282 Washington St., Hartford, CT 06106 or the VNA Healthcare (HOPE) Hospice, 103 Woodland St., Hartford, CT 06105.
