Obituary for Mary P. Kelly (Hennessey)

Mary P. (Hennessey) Kelly
June 12, 1923 - August 11, 2008
Hartford, Connecticut
Mass of Christian Burial: 12:00 noon August 14, 2008 at St. Peter Church 160 Main Street, Hartford, CT

Mary P. (Hennessey) Kelly, formerly of West Hartford and Highland Beach, Florida, beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” J. Kelly, entered eternal peace Monday August 11, 2008. She was born June 12, 1923 in Hartford, the daughter to the late John T. and Sarah (Mulhall) Hennessey. Mary attended St. Peter’s School and graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in West Hartford. Mary and Bob were the founding owners of Bob Kelly Florist which is located in the medical building of the Hartford Hospital. They helped many aspiring young students work their way through high school and college by providing employment at the "Flower Shop." Many of their former workers became life long friends. Mary and Bob subsequently became residents of Highland Beach and enjoyed a wonderful retirement. Mary, a daily church communicant, maintained her deep lifelong commitment to the Roman Catholic Church. During her extended illness Mary never once expressed pain or discomfort which her family attributed her inner strength to her strong religious commitment. Mary will be fondly remembered by a sister in law Rita Hennessey of Wethersfield; a brother in law Joseph Kelly of West Hartford; nieces Diane DePasquale, Mary Iyer and Christine Hennessey Larkin; a nephew, J. Martin Hennessey; and several grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother John T. Hennessey and her sister Kathryn Howard. The family would like to thank the staff at Ellis Manor in Hartford for their care and kindness in the last several months. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Mary’s life will take place Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 12:00 noon in St. Peter's Church, 160 Main Street, Hartford. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield has been entrusted with the arrangements.
