Marion (Akatyszewski) Sevetz, 92, of Avery Heights, passed away at Hartford Hospital on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, with her family by her side. She was born on July 19, 1923 in Hartford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Eleanor (Bys) Akatyszewski. She was married to her beloved husband Peter, for 57 years prior to his passing. Marion was a deeply religious women who supported her Catholic faith and was a communicant of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church. She raised her family in Wethersfield and worked at the former Newington Children’s Hospital. Marion and her husband loved vacationing in many spots, including the Caribbean, Cancun and the South Jersey Shore, which was their favorite. She was a creative, generous and loving mother to her four children; Peter Sevetz, Jr. of East Hartland, Mark Sevetz and his wife Melanie of East Hartland, Susan Stroum and her husband John of Palm Bay, FL, and Karen Misunas and her husband Stan of Suffield. She also leaves behind her four grandchildren, Lauren and Elizabeth Misunas, Tim Sevetz, Lisa Roberts and great-granddaughter Amalia Roberts, and her niece, June Bailey and her husband Ron of Marlborough. Marion was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Nogas, brother Richard Akatyszewski and granddaughter Erica Sevetz. Marion was an elegant, vibrant woman who will be deeply missed by many, especially her Avery Heights family.
The funeral will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 10:15 am from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd, Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 494 New Britain Ave., Hartford. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Sunday December 20, 2015 from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 494 New Britain Ave., Hartford, CT 06106, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
