Obituary for Marion M. Fischer

Marion M.  Fischer
Marion M. Fischer, age 77, of Wethersfield passed away with loved ones by her side on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, in Hartford Hospital. She was born in Hartford, the beloved daughter of the late Wolfgang and Babette (Ellert) Fischer. Marion was educated in the Hartford schools graduating from
Bulkeley High School in 1955 and then the University of Connecticut. She received her M.Ed. from theUniversity of Hartford and an M.A. from Montclair State College in New Jersey. Marion was a mathteacher for the West Hartford Board of Education, first at Talcott Junior High School and later atHall High School where she was advisor to the National Honor Society. She is survived by herfamily Anna Hecht; Anne Marie Bohan and her husband, Michael; Rosemarie Hecht; Joseph Hecht;Dorothy Moss; Edmund Binder; Bettie Reichart; Heidi, Frank and Michael Palance; and her specialcousin Marianne Fritsch of Germany. She also leaves best friends Marianne Riccio and MaryAnnMaradie. Besides her parents Marion was predeceased by her longtime companion Bob Johnson, cousin Friedrich “Fritz” Hecht, and close friend MaryLou Howley. Marion was a lifelong traveler and especially enjoyed going to Florida every winter with Bob. She was proud of her German heritage and loved working on her family tree. She was a longtime member of the Hartford Liederkranz serving as secretary for ten years. She was an avid Hummel collector and enjoyed gifting them to friends and family. Marion donated the Divine Mercy Statue at Corpus Christi Church. A special thanks is given to Jefferson House of Newington for their compassionate care, in particular aides Janette and Polly, and to private caretaker Patricia Douglas who provided constant support. Calling hours are from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2015, at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield. The funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2015, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield.
