Obituary for Maria Dolfas Gallos (Mary)

Maria (Mary) Dolfas Gallos
August 09, 1915 - January 24, 2009
West Hartford, Connecticut
Maria (Mary) Dolfas Gallos passed away peacefully on January 24, 2009 at the Hughes Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Hartford where she was a long time resident. Born on August 9, 1915 to Panayiota (Nikolarakos) and Angelo Dolfas, Mary lived a life that brought joy to many. She was foremost a devoted wife and friend to her husband Pandelis Gallos who she travelled with and attended to for all the years they shared. She had two sisters, Stella Moshovos and Sophia Politis and a brother Thomas Dolfas. Though she and Pandelis never had children of their own, they helped to raise her sister Sophia’s son, James Politis and were loving and devoted second parents to her sister Stella’s children. Mary had a spirit full of love and acceptance. She was always ready to help either in deed or in kind words. She never spoke harshly of or to anyone and chose only to see and encourage what she saw as positive in a soul. Mary leaves a legacy of love and gentleness to be carried on by those she touched. If you were fortunate enough to know her, consider yourself blessed. She will be greatly missed and greatly remembered. Among her remaining family are Emmanuel Moshovos of East Hartford, CT, Anne Greene of Madison, CT, and Pana Gawle of Deland, Florida, and many great nieces and nephews. There will be a private family funeral with no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made in Maria’s name to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford, CT 06114.
