Leona G. Nichols Cone Solarz, 80, beloved wife of the late John Solarz, Jr., passed peacefully into her eternal rest, Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Leona was born in Bennington, New Hampshire on September 29, 1933, and came to reside in Connecticut with her Mother as a teenager. She attended Hartford High School and worked in banking until she married. Leona served several years as a volunteer at Rockville General Hospital in the Therapy Department, helping people overcome their injuries. Leona was very involved with the Glastonbury chapter of the VFW, serving as President of the Auxiliary for several years. She was also a member of the Elks Club in Glastonbury, having the distinct honor of being the first appointed “Elkett” in the town of Glastonbury. She was very involved in the communities of Glastonbury and East Hartford for many years; which included working as a crossing guard in East Hartford. Leona will be fondly remembered and never forgotten by her loving family; two sons, William J. Cone, Jr. and his wife Sonny, of Livermore, CA, Brian K. Cone and his wife Gina, of North Haven, two daughters, Patricia Temple and her husband David, of Casselberry, FL, Diana Kent and her husband Chris, of Ashford; fifteen adored grandchildren, Timothy Cone and wife Jill, of Moon Township, PA, Alycia Cone of San Lorenzo, CA, Nick Finley of Livermore, CA, Josh Montero of North Haven, Christopher Condry and wife Lauren, of Debary, FL, Jason Temple and his fiancé Trish Barbados, of Winter Park FL, Meghan Cashion and husband Jeffrey, of Oviedo, FL, Sarah Temple-Hernandez III and husband Jose, of Ocoee, FL, Olivia Temple of Casselberry, FL, Jeremy, Rebecca, Thomas, Daniel, David, and Emma Kent all of Ashford; along with four cherished great-grandchildren; Hannah and Joshua Cashion of Oviedo, FL and Jacob and Anabelle Cone of Moon Township, PA; as well as her sisters-in-law; Thelma Parker of Clearwater, FL and Bonnie Nichols of Garden City, KS. In addition to her husband, Leona was predeceased by her parents, A. Marie & Joseph Repetti, of East Hartford; her father, Howard Nichols of Hartford; three brothers, her twin, Lee Nichols of Garden City, KS, Robert Parker of Clearwater, FL, and Samuel Nichols of Hartford; her infant daughter Judith Ann Cone of Glastonbury; as well as a grandson, David W. Cone of Livermore, CA. Per Leona’s request, private family services, by invitation only, will be held at a later date. Leona’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury.
