Kevin Thomas Shea, 53 of Daytona Beach FL, formerly of Wethersfield, passed away Monday (February 27, 2012) after a brief illness, with his family at his side. Born in Hartford, CT on September 10, 1958, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Shea) Shea. Kevin graduated from Wethersfield High School and was active with the Irish American Home Society in Glastonbury prior to moving to Daytona Beach FL as a young man. Kevin “Slim” was kind and generous; he enjoyed being with his friends and doing things his way. Kevin leaves a sister Peggy Dowd, her husband James and their children Heather, Sean, Eileen and Matthew. He also leaves behind his cousins Kathleen Christ and her husband Richard, Eileen McCormick and her husband Dave and John Fitzgerald and his wife Mary. Kevin will also be missed by his extended family here and abroad. Kevin was blessed with many special friends during his life. The family wishes to thank all of you for the support you provided, not only to Kevin, but also to his family. The family would also like to extend a thank you to all the staff, doctors, and nurses in the ICU (5th) floor and 7th floor at Halifax Health and Halifax Health Hospice, in Daytona Beach for your care and support during this difficult time. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Kevin’s life will be held Saturday, March 3rd at 9:00am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield (attendees are asked to go directly to church). Interment will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Section T, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield. There are no calling hours. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Kevin’s memory to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Tr., Port Orange, FL 32129.
