Kaitlyn Mairead (Saunders) Derr, 26, of Meriden, formerly of East Hartford, loving wife of Justin H. Derr, and devoted mother of Brody Derr, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012. Born in Hartford, December 18, 1985, she was the daughter of Terrance “Terry” and Elizabeth “Liz” (Lynch) Saunders. She was raised in East Hartford, where she attended and graduated from the East Hartford Public School System, then went on to earn and Associates Degree from Capitol Community College. Kaitlyn was employed at the Chowder Pot Restaurant, was a member of St. Christopher Church in East Hartford, the Irish-American Home Society in Glastonbury, and the Duffy and Mulcahy Academy of Dance where she studied Irish Step Dancing. Along with her husband, son, and parents, Kaitlyn will be fondly remembered by her loving family; her two sisters, Kristen and Kellie Saunders of East Hartford; a great aunt, Dorothy Silvestri of Newington; a great uncle, William Foley in Ireland; her aunts and uncles; Mary and Kristen Lynch, Ken and Barbara Bigos, James and Debra Lynch, Michael and Nancy Smith, Chris and Carol Bourque, Donald and Marilyn Kozak; her mother in law, Linda Honey; her father in law, Scott Derr; and two sisters in law, Jessica and Jordan Derr; as well as several cousins and many, many, close and dear friends here and in Ireland. Kaitlyn was pre-deceased by her maternal and paternal grandparent's Anthony & Margaret Lynch and Milton & Barbara Saunders. Kaitlyn’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield on Wednesday, March 14, from 4 to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating Kaitlyn’s life, will be held Thursday, March 15 at 11 a.m., in St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer St., East Hartford. Attendees are requested to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery Hebron Ave. Glastonbury, CT. In lieu of Flowers, memorial donations may be made in Kaitlyn's name to the Brody Derr Education Fund, c/o Farmington Savings Bank 669 Hebron Ave. Glastonbury, CT 06033 attn. Maureen Kennedy.
