Joseph A. Peltier, 73, husband of Anna (Perozziello) Peltier, of Enfield passed away Monday January 20, 2014 in St. Francis Hospital, after a long illness. He was born in Hartford, son of the late Bertram J. and Nora C.(Lynch) Peltier and lived in the area all of his life. After graduating from the University of Hartford Engineering School, he worked as a civil engineer for the State of Connecticut until his retirement. Before starting his own civil engineering firm, Peltier Associates, Joe served as Vice President for Flaherty Giavara Associates, a private engineering firm in New Haven. After leaving the practice of civil engineering, he enjoyed his winters in Florida and his summers on the boat in Connecticut with his wife. He was a member of the Kappa Mu Engineers Society, the American Society of Civil Engineers and The American Society of18th Century Period Furniture Makers. Joe enjoyed period furniture making, was an avid sailor, a member of the “Pouchoug Yacht Club”, enjoyed photography and was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and Camp Pecos Bill in Vermont. Besides his wife, he leaves a son John A. Peltier and his wife Elizabeth of South Carolina, two daughters Patricia P. Haskins and her husband Jim of Virginia and Catherine N. Chevalier of Enfield and three brothers, Bertram J. Peltier Jr. and his wife Judi of Rhode Island, Robert F. Peltier and his wife Joanne of Wethersfield and John T. Peltier and his wife Maria of Hartford. Joe is also survived by his grandchildren Andrew, Leah, James, Charles and Tori and his great-grandchildren, Landon, Logan and Connor as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may visit from 4-7 pm Thursday January 23, 2014 at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Friday January 24,2014 in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy, Wethersfield. All are asked to go directly to church. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave., Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CPTV/WNPR, 1049 Asylum Ave. Hartford CT. 06105.
