Joseph E. Monty, 104, of Glastonbury, loving husband of the late Elizabeth R. Monty died April 11, 2013 at Woodlake at Tolland after a brief Illness. He was born on March 7, 1909 in Jewitt City, Ct to the late Joseph P. and Sarah (Jarvis) Monty. Joseph was a resident of Glastonbury since the 1930’s. He served as a medic in the US Army during WW II in Europe. Prior to retiring, he was employed by Bond Bread and later by A.J. Camp Cleaners. Joseph is survived by his daughters, Mary M. Monty of Glastonbury with whom he made his home, Karen K. Monty of Windsor and Joan E. Monty of Manchester, two grandsons, James J. Tierinni Jr and his fiance’ Sarah I. Brown and Jason D. Tierinni all of Manchester. He is also survived by his sister Lillian Mader of Glastonbury and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by his brother Harold Monty of East Hartford. The funeral will be held at 9:15 am Saturday April 13, 2013 from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home 50, Naubuc Ave. Glastonbury followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Paul Church 2477 Main St. Glastonbury, CT. Burial will be in St. James Episcopal Cemetery, Grove St. Glastonbury. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-7 pm TODAY. Memorial donations may be made to the Glastonbury Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 453, Glastonbury, CT 06033-0453 or the charity of the donor’s choice. Joseph’s family would like to thank his nurses from Masonicare Home Health for the excellent care they gave him during the last three years and for his aides Corey and Mary from Right at Home. We are also grateful for the extraordinary compassionate care given to Joseph by the staff at Woodlake during the past few weeks.
