Joseph A. Montineri Sr., 91, of Hartford, CT, beloved husband of 65 years to Dorothy A. (Cerasoli) Montineri, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Glastonbury Health Care Center. He was born on April 27, 1921, in Hartford, CT., but recently resided in Berlin , CT. He was the son of the late Antonio and Emmanuella (Scata) Montineri. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the United States Postal Service and the Travelers Insurance Co. He was an army veteran for nine years, serving in World War II in the South Pacific Theater and received two bronze medals for bravery in combat. Along with his wife Dorothy, Joseph will be fondly remembered and missed by his loving family; a son and daughter -in-law, Joseph A. and Patricia Montineri of Glastonbury; three daughters and a son-in-law, Maria Lignana of Medford, NJ, Toni Niedzwiedz of Marlton, NJ, Ellen and Vincent Grimaldi of Newington; his brother, Salvatore Montineri of Hartford; sister, Vincenza DeLucco of Berlin; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Maryanne Cerasoli of East Montpelier, VT; ten cherished grandchildren, who he supported at each and every important event in their lives, and was always their number one fan, David Pitchko, Mark Pitchko, Roman Niedzwiedz, Thea Niedzwiedz, Julie DuBois and her husband Jesse, Joseph M. Montineri and wife, Traci, Matthew Montineri and wife, Melissa, Scott Mitchell, Lauren Grimaldi, and Nicole Grimaldi; four adored great grandchildren, Samantha, Gabrielle, Alanna, and Belle. Joe also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends that will miss him dearly. At 91, Joe will be remembered for his love of life, sports, casino trips, and most importantly his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by four sisters-in-law, Flo Conti, Lorraine Montineri, Shirley Cerasoli and Barbara Cerasoli and three brothers-in-law, Richard Cerasoli, Nicholas Conti, and John DeLucco. The family of Joseph would like to thank the devoted staff of Vitas Hospice Care and Glastonbury Health Care for the love and respect they showed to our Joe and our family, and a special thanks to Magda Magnotta who treated him like a father. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Montineri family, Thursday, June 14, from 4-8pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield. Funeral procession from Farley-Sullivan will commence Friday, June 15th at 9am, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Joseph’s life, at 10am in Holy Spirit Church, 183 Church Street, Newington.
