John F. Houlihan, 86, of Pembroke, MA, formerly of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Kathleen "Kaye" Moore Houlihan, passed away peacefully on April 2nd in Rockland, MA. John was born March 6, 1928 in Bellows Falls, VT, son of the late John Charles and Stephanie (Coffey) Houlihan. After serving in WWII in the Navy, he earned a Bachelor Degree from Bentley College. He enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the insurance industry. At the time of his retirement, John was a principal owner of Power, Bolles, and Houlihan Insurance Agency in Berlin, CT. John will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his loving family; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenna and Randy Lewis of Berlin; daughter-in-law, Anna Houlihan of Wethersfield; son Brett S. Houlihan of Bristol; step-daughter, Kim (Carmichael) Dugan and husband Bob; grandchildren Scott Lewis (Ashley Taylor), Russell Lewis (Aili Palmunen Lewis), Elizabeth Lewis Carlson (Jon Carlson), Nichole Houlihan Hannon (Michael Hannon), John P. Houlihan, Michael D. Houlihan, Mia & Jamie Houlihan; great grandchildren Jackson & Scarlett Carlson, Brayden & Palmer Lewis, Rory Sue & Rowan May Lewis, Owen Brion Hannon. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his first wife Rita (Donovan) Houlihan; son, John Brion Houlihan and sister, Elizabeth H. Hammond. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family, Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 10-11am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating John’s life will be held at 11:30AM in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Interment will follow in Village Cemetery, Marsh St., Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wethersfield Food Bank c/o Town of Wethersfield, 505 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield, CT 06109.
