On 10/22/2008 Jack Casey, 75, of Wethersfield suddenly and unexpectedly entered into his eternal rest. Born in Hartford but living in Newington and Wethersfield much of his life Jack was known as a master story teller, bigger than life, who spun stories that constantly amazed his listeners. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word and always exhibited great character and integrity which resulted in him being revered with great respect from all who knew him. When he entered a room, he owned the audience. He was a long time volunteer auctioneer for the C.C.H.S.A. and helped raised many thousands of dollars for the Corpus Christi kids. He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus in Newington. He was dedicated to his family, his work, and his deep faith. He honed his work ethic at the age of 14 and worked right up to the very day he left us. He was employed for many years at Lanvin-Charles of the Ritz and upon his "retirement" he opened his own business, "Casey Enterprises" of Wethersfield. Jack was the son of the late John and Evelyn (Hall) Casey. He leaves his loving wife Carolyn (Griffin) Casey, his children Marie and Bill DeMilia, Jack and Gina Casey, Tim and Franca Casey, Mike and Mary-Ellen Casey, Elizabeth Casey and Bruce Dalkowski, Tami and Ronnie Florek, Lisa and Tony Melandro, Marla Rosen, Billy and Christina Genereux, and his beloved grandchildren; Billy, Chris, Jack, Tim, Kelly, Courtney, Griffin, Brendan, Brittney, Lexi, Jonathan, Tyler, Olivia, Jayden, Alana, and Gianna. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth "Betty" (Coffey) Casey, his grandson Connor Casey, and very recently his beloved son David Casey. Many in Wethersfield were accustomed to seeing "Big Jack" on his daily walk abouts throughout the town and all will sadly miss his friendly wave and warm smile. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in Jack's name. Last respects to the family can be made at the Farley Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. in Wethersfield on Sunday, October 26, 2008 from 4 PM till 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy, Wethersfield, Monday , October 27, 2008 at 11 :00 am. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd, Bloomfield. .
