Obituary for Joan M Tangney (Garrity)
Joan (Garrity) Tangney, 78, wife of the late Charles M. Tangney of Rocky Hill, passed away April 12, 2015 in West Hartford. She was born in Derby, CT, daughter of the late Joseph and Delia (Moore) Garrity. Prior to her retirement in 1992, Joan was a Customer Service Representative with Society for Savings. She was a volunteer with St. Francis Hospital as a Patient Representative, a lifetime member of the St. Francis Hospital Women’s Auxiliary and a former member of the St. James Church Women’s Club. Joan was an avid reader, loved walking and doing her weekly rosary. She is survived by her 4 sons and daughter Stephen Tangney of Cromwell, James Tangney and his wife Gerry of Wethersfield, Moira (Tangney) Daigle and her husband Dan of Berlin, John Tangney and his wife Janis of East Lyme and William Tangney and his wife Christine of Rocky Hill. Joan also leaves 9 grandchildren, Meghan and Kelly Tangney, Kyra and Caroline Daigle, Lucie, Michael and Paige Tangney and Dorryel and Garrity Tangney and two cousins, Tom Moore of ME. and Karen Sanda of MD.
Friends may call from 4-7 PM, Sunday April 19, 2015 at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield, CT. The funeral will be held at 8:45 am Monday April 20, 2015 from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. James Church 767 Elm St Rocky Hill, CT 06067. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill. Memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of Mercy Retirement Fund, 15 Highland View Rd., Cumberland RI 02864.
