Obituary for Henry M. Martin

Henry Myron Martin, 90, of Hartford, beloved husband of Mary L. Martin, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, with his family at his side, following a long battle with cancer. He was born in Hartford, CT on July 6, 1924, and remained a lifelong resident. Henry enlisted and proudly served his country during WWII (1942-1946) in the U.S. Navy, surviving numerous battles and losing his ship in the Battle of Anzio. He returned to Hartford and married his devoted and loving wife Mary (Trusivich) Martin. September 9th they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. They raised four children, daughter Donna Nolan and her husband Gary of Portland, CT., daughter Christina Inferrera and husband Mel of Colchester, CT, son David Martin and wife Cindy of West Hartford, CT and son Jeffrey Martin and wife Carol, of Hartford. Henry was a wonderful grandfather to his seven grandchildren, Melissa Etheridge, Kristin Budden, Elyse Inferrera, Michelle Inferrera, Bohdan Martin, MaryRose Martin, and Michael Martin. He also had the joy of loving his three great-grandchildren, Kellan and Ella Etheridge and Emerson Grace Budden. He was predeceased by his brother John and sister Nell. Henry was a graduate of Porter School of Design, where he learned the trade of tool and dye making. He was employed as a tool and dye maker first at Holo Krome, Elmwood, CT and then retired from Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT. Besides his wife and children, Henry is survived by his sister Penny Grogoza of FL., and several nephews. He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Michael Ukrainian Church in Hartford.
The Martin family would like to thank Vitas Hospice Care for their professionalism, compassionate care and support through this difficult time. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday September 22, 2014 in St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 178 Linwood Ave., Colchester, CT. 06415.
