Halina "Hanka" (Madrak) Prusaczyk, 67, of Hartford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on Saturday, January 12, 2013. She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Bronislaw "Bruno" Prusaczyk, her children: Anna Prusaczyk and her companion, Robert McCormick of Hartford, Chris Prusaczyk and his wife, Kasey of Bloomfield, and Dorothy Mehta and her husband Ariz, of New York, NY, and her two granddaughters, Eliana Mehta of New York, NY and Janey Prusaczyk of Bloomfield. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Zosia Konopka and her husband, Stanislaw of Hartford and her special cousin, Stephanie Kwasnicki of Andover. Her nephews, nieces and godchildren, who she also considered her own children, include: Miro Konopka of Hartford, Bobby Konopka of Hartford, Krystyne Gallogly and her husband, Nick of Glen Mills, PA, Eva Konopka of Bloomfield, Barbara Rudini and her husband, David of Trumbull, Stephanie Madrak of Manchester, Robert Kwasnicki of Enfield, Mark Kozon of Kensington and Mark Baranowski of Hartford. Hanka also leaves behind many relatives and friends throughout the United States and Poland. Hanka is predeceased by her mother, Stefania Madrak, her father, Leopold Madrak, her brother, Jesse Madrak, her mother-in-law, Stanislawa Prusaczyk and father-in-law, Aleksander Prusaczyk. Born in Lipniki, Poland in 1945, she moved with her mother, father and brother in 1963 to Hartford, where she settled and eventually raised her own family. During her time in Hartford, she worked at the Capewell Factory, participated as a parishioner of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church and a member of its Rosary Society, and enjoyed a wide circle of family and friends. It was never a dull moment when in Hanka's company. She always had a good story to tell or funny joke to share. She often entertained at her home and was always the last one to leave a party. Her family and friends will miss her spirit, smile and laugh. In addition to her vibrant and social nature, Hanka will be remembered for her generosity--from helping those in need without hesitation to giving out toys and candy to neighborhood children. Although many hearts are broken with Hanka's passing, she leaves behind a legacy of truly being one-of-a-kind. The family would like to thank the nursing and medical staff of the Hospital for Special Care--Hartford Satellite for the care, compassion and love provided to Hanka. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Prusaczyk family on Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 5-8pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 18 at 10am in SS Cyril & Methodius Church, 63 Popieluszko Court, Hartford. Attendees are asked to go directly to the Church. Interment will follow the Mass in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery (Section Y), 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: "SS. Cyril & Methodius Church Renovation Fund" in honor of Halina Prusaczyk, c/o SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 55 Charter Oak Ave., Hartford, CT 06106.
