Gordon C. Bergen, 58, beloved husband of Carolyn (Nosal) Bergen of Sandy Hook, Newtown passed away suddenly, Friday, May 31, 2013 at home. Born in Binghamton, NY, son of the late Hunt and Nancy (Wigg) Bergen, he was raised in West Hartford. Gordon graduated from Kingswood Oxford High School after spending time as an exchange student in South Africa. Following high school he went on to earn his bachelors degree from Bates College in Maine. Gordon then went on to receive a diploma from Computer Processing Institute in computer programming. Gordon worked for many years as a project manager at Cadbury Beverages in Stamford, CT, until starting his own internet gift business “On A Whim” with his wife, Carolyn. Gordon enjoyed spending time at Squam Lake in New Hampshire boating and relaxing. He also loved his music, cooking, watching golf and all sports, when not caring for his lawn. Besides his wife Carolyn, he leaves his son Alexander Scott Bergen of Sandy Hook, his two brothers, Hunt Bergen and his wife Jane of Walpole, MA and Richard Bergen and his wife Eileen of West Hartford, a sister, Dr. Elizabeth Von Kohorn and her husband Jeff Kohorn of Norwalk. Gordon also leaves his mother-in-law Florence Nosal of Glastonbury, his brothers-in-law,; Kenneth Nosal and his wife Ellen of East Hampton and Peter Nosal and his wife Christine of Columbia, sister-in-law Rosalind Nosal Dobrowolski of East Hampton and his loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his father-in-law Carl Nosal and his brother-in-law Edmund Nosal. Gordon’s love of animals was shown by his attachment to his dog Triscuit. Funeral services will be held Wednesday June 5, 2013 at 7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury. Friends and relatives may call on the family at the funeral home on Wednesday evening one hour prior to the service from 6 to 7pm. Graveside services will take place on Thursday June 6, 2013 at 10am in St Augustine Cemetery, South Glastonbury, with a procession from the funeral home beginning at 9:30am.
