Ellsworth F. “Buddy” Leach Jr., 69, of East Hartford, loving father, brother, and grandfather, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at Glastonbury Healthcare Center. Born June 23, 1942, in Waterbury, Buddy was the son of the late Ellsworth F. and Dorothy (Watkins) Leach. After high school, he served our country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Saratoga. Prior to his retirement, Buddy was a firefighter with the Hartford Fire Department, rising through the ranks to the position of Deputy Fire Chief. He was a member of the Hartford Firefighters’ Protective Association, the Firemen’s Benevolent Society, a Life member of the VFW, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks 2202, Glastonbury, and the Royal Order of Moose, Hartford. Buddy will be remembered by his loving family; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debi and David Althen of Barkhamstead, Paula and Lawrence Dooley of South Windsor; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Gerald and Nancy Leach of Weston, VT, Edward and Kathy Leach, Kenneth Leach, all of Watertown; five cherished grandchildren, Autumn and Adam Althen, Thomas, Peter, and Samantha Dooley. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Friends and relatives may visit Friday June 15, 2012 from 4-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A memorial service will be held Saturday June 16, 2012 at 11:00 am at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, with full military honors after the service.
