Mass of Christian Burial: 10 am December 19, 2013 at Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy, Wethersfield, Connecticut
Elizabeth Ann “Bette” Pingree, 75, of Newington, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 15, 2013 at her home. Bette was born in Manchester, daughter of the late Herbert B. and Mildred (Brown) Pingree, residing in the Hartford area all her life. Bette was a graduate of Bulkeley High School, Class of 1956. Immediately following High School, she was hired by SNET, where she was employed for many years, starting her career as an Operator, working her way up to Secretary prior to her retirement. Bette was a member for over 35 years of the General Federation of Women’s Club of Newington/Wethersfield, during which time she served as President from 2006-2008 in addition to serving as the Educational Committee Chairperson. Bette will be fondly remembered by her loving family; a brother Robert W. Pingree and his wife Ruth, of Newington; two nephews, Robert J. Pingree of Newington, Raymond H. Pingree and his wife, Elizabeth, of Cromwell; a cherished great-niece, Lauren Pingree; as well as three cousins, Myron Terwilliger and his wife Peggy, Lois Dery, and Frank Pingree. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family, Wednesday, December 18, from 4-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Bette’s life will be held Thursday, December 19 at 10am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield (all attendees are asked to go directly to Church). Interment will follow the Mass in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave., Hartford. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, friends to consider a donation to the U.S.O. , P.O. Box 96322, Washington, D.C., 20090-6322, or to Corpus Christi Church, 84 Somerset St., Wethersfield, CT 06019.
