Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Humphrey) Miller, 81, resident of Wethersfield for the last 32 years, beloved wife of Audrey “Buddy” Miller, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Monday, September 30, 2013 in St. Francis Hospital. Betty was born in Manchester, December 15, 1931. She was raised in Hartford, the daughter of the late Thomas and Bridget (Feeley) Humphrey, graduating from Buckley High School in 1951. After graduation, Betty was employed at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, where she worked for 6 years. Betty met a military man on his way home from the service while working at her mother’s gas station in Andover pumping gas. She and this soldier, named Buddy, became friends, courted for a time, and then married on December 22, 1954. After raising her family, Betty went back into the work force working at Cigna as a Workers’ Compensation Claims Specialist for 13 years, retiring in 1994. She was a faithful communicant of Corpus Christi Church. Along with her husband Buddy, Betty will be fondly remembered by her loving family; her three daughters and their husbands, Ellen and Lewis Eastwood of Wethersfield, Joan and Richard Stanchfield of Canton, Ann and Dennis Michaud of East Hartford; eight adoring grandchildren, Erica Boerman, Sarah and Ryan Eastwood, Catherine Henzy, Christopher, Carlton, Sean, and Hunter Stanchfield; as well as four cherished great grandchildren, Audrey, Lewis, and Raleigh Boerman, and Daniel Eastwood. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her six siblings, Margaret Duro, Eileen Wagner, Roseanna DeLuca, Thomas, Patrick, and James Humphrey. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to Betty and her family, Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 5-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Betty’s life will be held, Friday, October 4th at 10am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield, (attendees are asked to go directly to the church). Interment will follow the Mass in the family plot at the Columbia West St., Burying Grounds, West St., Columbia, CT. The family requests in lieu of flowers, and that memorial donations be made in Betty’s name to Corpus Christi School Fund, 581 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield, CT 06109 or the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1365 Enfield St., Enfield, CT 06082.
