Edward “Ted” R. Leahy II, 56, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away Wednesday, July 10th, 2013, with his family at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ted was born March 6, 1957 in Hartford, the son of the late Donald E. and Jean (Manion) Leahy. He grew up in Wethersfield, graduated from Wethersfield High School, Manchester Community College, and Prince Tech. He married "the girl next door", Carla Morgan, on April 24, 1981; she was truly the love of his life. He was a member of St. James Church, Rocky Hill, and the Sacred Heart Church Men’s Club. Ted was employed for many years by Kasden Fuel of East Hartford, and had recently joined Mull Bros. of Wethersfield. Life to Ted was precious and meant to be enjoyed; he took life “one day at a time” and lived it to its fullest. He enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, playing cards, cruises, vacations in the FL Keys, and treasured his annual trips to Aruba with Carla. As a devoted and dedicated family man, the most important part of his life was the time spent with his cherished wife, daughters, and grandchildren. Ted will be fondly remembered by his loving family; his wife Carla Morgan Leahy of Rocky Hill, two daughters and their husbands, Jessica and Chris Yorgensen, of Wethersfield, and Kristen and Andrew Staron of Newington; three grandchildren, Matthew and Sean Yorgensen, and Alexa Staron; two sisters, Wendy Cudmore and her husband, David Cudmore, of Wethersfield; and Colonel Mary Kate Leahy-Voigts and husband, Colonel (Retired) Kevin Voigts, of Virginia; father-in-law, Carl Morgan; in-laws Michael and Denise Morgan, Linda and Gennaro Diana, Chris and Paula Morgan, and Michael and Jane Krezinski; and twelve nieces and nephews. Ted also leaves many close friends who were like his second family, especially the “neighbors”. Along with his parents, Ted was predeceased by his sister, Jill Leahy Krezinski; and his mother-in-law, Beverly Morgan. His family would like to express their deepest thanks to Dr. Stacy Nerenstone, the staff at Oncology Associates, and the amazing team at Hartford Hospital's Conklin Building (CB2). A special thanks to Paula Morgan for her loving support and professional help in navigating the complexity of the medical system. Friends and family may pay their respects on Monday, July 15th, 2013, at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield from 9 to 11 a.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made In Memory of Edward Leahy to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center, 80 Seymour St., P.O. Box 5037, Hartford, CT 06102.
