Barbara C. Taylor, 77, of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Laurel Place Assisted Living, Hudson, NH with her loving family at her side. Barbara was born in St. Louis, MO, daughter of the late August Morgan and Eugenia (Sale) Covington. She was predeceased by her brothers Bruce and Tom and her sister Olive. Barbara was a secretary at Monsanto during her younger years. She was introduced to William A. Taylor, a chemical engineer, through friends. They married, and moved to Connecticut in 1961 when William joined United Technologies. They raised their family in Glastonbury and were parishioners at St. Augustine Church where Barbara was a choir member there for several years. She was a devoted mother and homemaker who ensured that her children were strong academically and active in scouting, sports and music. Barbara loved bird watching and yard work and took special delight in baking, especially during the holidays. After her husband passed, Barbara moved to an assisted living facility to be closer to her children. She blossomed in her last few years and enjoyed singing in the choir, attending musical events and playing bingo, developing a special knack for winning. Barbara is survived and will be fondly remembered by her loving family; her daughter Jeanne Taylor Shapiro, her husband Jack and their son Nathan; her son, John C. Taylor, his wife Carol and their daughters Olivia and Jacqueline; and her son Edward M. Taylor, his wife Amani and their daughter Kira; as well as several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Friday October 18, 2013 at 9:15 am from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury CT 06033, followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd, South Glastonbury, CT 06073.
