Barbara (May) Dignoti, age 76, of Broad Brook passed away May 27, 2012 at home surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer. She was born December 19, 1935 in New York City, NY to the late Harold and Phyllis (Abbott) May. Barbara retired from the State of Connecticut after 33 yrs in 1990 as Director of Central Payroll. After living in East Hartford for 30 years, she retired to Florida where she resided for 14 years. At which time she returned to Broad Brook, CT. Barbara was a lover of the beach, as well as music. She loved to support her Irish heritage by attending the St. Patrick’s Day parade every year in Hartford. She was a member of the Elks, the Moose, D.A.V. and the Eagles. She is survived by her daughters Laurie Oliver and significant other Donald Arcari of Broad Brook, along with Caren Paradise and her husband Richard of Broad Brook. Her five grandchildren Jennifer O. St. Amand and husband Dean of South Windsor, Janet O. Migliore and her husband Daniel of East Hartford, Judith O. Gelinas and husband Kevin of Granby, Christine Paradise of Broad Brook and R.J Paradise of Broad Brook. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren Christopher, Morgan, Jacob, Danielle, Mikylah, Isabella, Mackenzee and Marcel. She is also survived by two siblings Judith Meek and her husband Norman of Manchester, and Stephen Davis and wife of Arizona. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. As well as her family she leaves behind three special friends Beatrice Reilly of Plainville, Sandra Scott of San Antonio, TX, and William Brown of Rotunda, FL. She was predeceased by two siblings Harold May of Miami, FL, and Richard May of Zephyrhills, FL. The family would like to thank the VNA Hospice, as well as the Oncology group at the Helen and Harry Grey Cancer Center at Hartford Hospital. Calling hours will be held Saturday June 2nd from 3-5pm, followed by a brief a memorial service, at Farley & Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield.
