Anne E. (O’Connor) Gilland, 75, of Rocky Hill, passed away peacefully Thursday December 26, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. She was born January 4, 1938 in Hartford, daughter of the late John and Marie (Barry) O’Connor. Anne was raised in Newington, and has resided in the Hartford area all her life. Prior to her retirement, she was a Bond Underwriter for Peerless Insurance Co for many years. Anne will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her loving family; her three children and their spouses, James M. Gilland and his wife Mindy, of Louisville, KY, Sheila A. Goncharov and her husband Alex, of Simsbury, Michael J. Gilland and his wife Kimberly, of Wethersfield; five cherished grandchildren, John, Katherine, Andrew, Kathleen, and Sean; as well as her sister, Marie Muska, of Broadbrook. In addition to her parents, Anne is predeceased by her brothers, Dr. John E. O’Connor Jr., Monsignor Daniel O’Connor; her infant grandson, James, and her brother-in-law, Charles Muska. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 9:30-10:30am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, at which time the funeral procession will commence to Sacred Heart Church, 56 Hartford Ave., Wethersfield for a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Anne’s life at 11am. Interment will follow the Funeral Mass in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery (Section X), 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield.
