Obituary for Ann Coughlin (Tosca)

On Saturday evening, February 6, 2016, just 2 days shy of her 96th birthday, Ann (Tosca) Coughlin began her next journey while holding the hands of her daughters who loved her dearly. Her painful struggle is over and she is at peace in the loving arms of her mother, husband and son. Ann retired from G. Fox & Co. in 1983. She cherished many wonderful memories of summers at Lake Pocotopaug, her Friday night poker club and she and dad’s almost-daily afternoon biscuit and coffee at Roy Rogers. She was an amazing cook and homemaker. Her greatest love was her children and their families. Whenever videoed on holidays or special occasions, she could be heard saying, “I’m just happy to be with my family,” and she meant it with all her heart. Her concern for her family never wavered, even during her health challenges. Ann leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughters and their spouses Joan and Jim Meehan of Rocky Hill and Veda and Nick Oliva of Wethersfield. Grandchildren, Jim (Cindy) Meehan, Kelly Williams, Leslie (John) LeBlanc, Erin Coughlin, Sarah (Dan) Duplin and Katie Pearce. Great-grandchildren Conor, Annie, Erin, Ireland, Ben, Graham, Zachary, Cierra, Jayden, Kalani, Jace, Abby, Joey and Kenley. She was predeceased by her parents Nicholas and Antoinette Tosca, husband Edward B. Coughlin, son Eddie Coughlin, sister Lucy Tosca and brothers Michael, Tom, Domenic, George and Tony Tosca. The world will not change, but for the family of Ann Coughlin, life will never be the same. We will miss her every day. A special note of appreciation to the staff of Middlesex Home Hospice and in particular to Angela and Rachel for their deep expressions of warmth and kindness. Also, to Helina and Elizabeth who filled Ann’s nights with tender care and safety. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 9:30am to 10:30am, at which time the funeral procession will proceed to St. Luke Church 66 Bolton St. Hartford for an 11am Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Ann’s life. At Ann’s request, the burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please give someone a hug. To extend online condolences and/or share a memory, please visit farleysullivan.com.
