Angela (D’Onofrio) Ricco Wister, passed away on Sunday April 28, 2013 at Jefferson House in Newington, CT. She was born in Hartford, February 3, 1918, daughter of the late Leonardo and Maria (Antonucci) D’Onofrio. Angela graduated from Hartford Public High School, Class of 1935B. She worked for many years for the City of Hartford as an Administrator of Immigration and helped hundreds of people become citizens of the United States. She was a long time member and officer of the Newington Women’s Garden Club and won many awards for her unique floral arrangements. Angela was also a gourmet cook and loved cooking for her family, enjoyed traveling and explored many countries abroad as well as the United States. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Rocco Ricco, her second husband, John Wister, her sister Antoinette and brothers, Giovanni, Daniel, Emilio, Anthony, John, Rocco and Leon D’Onofrio and her cherished niece, Marie D. Anthony. She leaves her sister-in-law Angela D. D’Onofrio, her nieces Annette M. D’Onofrio, Lucille Plouffe and her husband Michael Plouffe, Carol Wells and her husband Steve Wells, and Anne D’Onofrio. She also leaves many generations of nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Friday May 3, 2013 in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield, Ct. There are no calling hours and burial will be private. The family is grateful to the caregivers at Jefferson House, Burnham North for their exceptional kindness and compassionate care.
