Alice (Akerlind) Moriarty, beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Moriarty, entered into eternal rest, Sunday, October 12, 2008. Born in Wethersfield to the late John and Elida Akerland, she was raised in Hartford, and graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1940. Alice worked at Travelers Insurance Co, until her marriage in 1943. Moving to Glastonbury in 1954 she was a devoted parishioner of St. Dunstan’s Church. She also was active in the Glastonbury Democratic Women’s Club and an avid Red Sox fan. Upon the death of her husband, Alice was a cook at Glastonbury High School, retiring in 1984. Sharing in their loss are children; sons, Timothy and his wife Nancy of Florida, Thomas and his wife Debbie of Maryland, Ted and his wife Katy of Massachusetts, daughters, Judith and devoted step-daughter Janet of Glastonbury, she leaves her grandchildren, Sean and his wife Karen of California, Sirkka and her husband, Olav of Indiana, Jesse and her husband, Jason of Glastonbury. Step-grandchildren, Kim and Bo of Florida, Jake of Rhode Island, Adam and Alex of Boston., step-great- grandchildren, her cherished Rachael of Bristol, CT, and Wade and Haylee of Florida. Alice leaves many dear friends and neighbors, especially Jane O’Grady and family. In addition to her husband, and parents she was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret, Elizabeth, Beatrice, Dorothy and Elaine and her brother, Alfred. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 17, 2008 at 9:15am from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave, Glastonbury, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Dunstan Church, 1345 Manchester Rd, Glastonbury. Friends and relatives may call on the family, Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 4-8pm, at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests friends consider memorial donations to either the American Cancer Society, Meriden Executive Park, 538 Preston Ave, 06450. or the American Heart Society, 5 Brookside Dr, PO Box 5022, Wallingford, CT, 06492.
