Alfred Peter Granato, 84, passed away peacefully Sunday December 29, 2013 at his home in Rocky Hill, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 21, 1929, son of the late Frank and Raffaela Granato. He leaves behind his beloved wife Noreen (McGrath) Granato with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Al will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family; his daughter Karen Tardette and her husband John of West Hartford; his three sons and their wives, William Granato and Toni of Batavia, IL, Stephen Granato and Jane of Rocky Hill, and F. Mark Granato and Barbara of Wethersfield; ten adored grandchildren, JT Tardette, Dan Tardette, Nicholas Tardette, Taylor Granato, Luke Granato, Catherine Granato, Elizabeth Granato, Madeline Granato, Jack Granato and Jay Granato. Al is also survived by two sisters, Florence Miele of Manchester and Rosalie Tatasciore of Pinellas Park, FL, and a brother Joseph Granato of East Hartford and several nieces and nephews. He was devoted to his wife and family and an active member of Corpus Christi Church in Wethersfield for more than 50 years. Al was a proud World War II Veteran of the US Marine Corps. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he spent almost his entire career as a salesman for the Ace Advance Paper Co in New Britain. During his retirement years, Al enjoyed reading, taking care of his car, manicuring his beautifully landscaped Wethersfield home, traveling and proudly watching his grandchildren from the sidelines. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with Noreen (his “honey”) and his little Maltese who rarely let him out of her sight. Al’s family will receive friends Wednesday January 1, 2014 from 5-8 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am January 2, 2014 in St. James Church, 767 Elm St. Rocky Hill. All are asked to go directly to church. Interment will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd. Bloomfield. To extend online
