Joan Marie (Mulvey) McCarthy, 84, of Middletown, loving wife of the late John Joseph McCarthy, peacefully passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Waters Edge Healthcare in Middletown. Joan was born May 20, 1931 in Providence, RI, daughter of the late John Raymond and Edith May (Wood) Mulvey. Most recently she lived at St. Luke’s with a wonderful group of neighbors and friends. Thank you ladies and gents of Broad Street! Joan will be missed and remembered by her families; The Mulveys’, The Mulchs’ in Providence, Warwick and throughout Rhode Island. J Gonzalez, The Brays’ Elwood, Alice, Helen and all. The McCarthys’ in Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire. You know who you are and we love you! Catherine M. McCarthy, Marcia Weaver, Jonathan and Benjamin McCarthy- Weaver, all of Middletown. Harry and Dinora LaCosse, Tanya and Alex, Tatiana, Juliana and Aleczander, Becca, Sarah and Carlos, Kaylisia. Joan lived most of her life in Hartford Connecticut where she welcomed many children from various walks of life, from many countries and cultures. She loved them all as her own while in her care. Joan was a long time member of Immaculate Conception church community in Hartford. Thank you, Bros, Marcus and Ben; Fr. James and Fr. Jim and CND’s. Remember the Corned Beef? Thank you also St. Christopher’s in East Hartford. She felt welcomed and crocheted baptism blankets with you. Friends and family may pay their respects Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 10-11am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. The funeral procession will commence at 11:15am for a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Joan’s life at 12pm in St. Christopher Church, Brewer St., East Hartford. Interment will follow the Mass in State of CT Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to Cat Tails, PO Box 901, Middletown, CT 06457 or The CT Audubon Society, 1361 Main St., Glastonbury.
