Mary R. Sposato of Wethersfield, CT passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 4th 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born in Worcester, MA, daughter of the late Michael and Ellen (O’Connor) Rynn. She graduated from Our Lady of the Elms College with a degree in education and taught in the Leicester, MA school system. She met her husband, the love of her life, the late Frank P. Sposato, in Misquamicut, R.I. and upon their marriage in 1953 she moved to Westerly, R.I. where she taught in the Westerly School System. Following the birth of her children she helped her husband grow his company, Wescon Corporation. She embraced motherhood, tending to the needs of her family and her church. Mary instilled in her children and grandchildren the value of kindness and generosity. Mary was a communicant of St. Pius X Church and a substitute teacher in the parish school, a member of The Westerly Yacht Club, and Winnapaug Country Club and assisted her husband in his role as President of the Westerly Rotary Club. Following her husband’s death in 1984 she moved to Wethersfield, CT to be near her daughters and grandchildren. An accomplished seamstress and cook, Mary delighted in sharing her talents with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her daughters Mary-Ellen Rogers (Michael) of Rocky Hill, CT and Westerly, Ann Mahoney (Richard) of Wethersfield and Rosemary Benoit (David) of Wethersfield. She leaves eight grandchildren; Reverend Michael Rogers, SJ, Francis Rogers and his wife Liz, Mary-Kathryn Rogers, Rick Mahoney Jr., Mary Margaret Mahoney, Patrick Mahoney, Frank Benoit and his fiancé Dr. Joyce Justin and Stephen Benoit. Mary’s family would like to thank her kind and compassionate caregivers, Kathy Buonanducci and Yurita Strazda, who enabled Mary to remain peacefully in her home during her illness. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family for calling hours Thursday April 9, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Gaffney- Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce Street, Westerly, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm Street , Westerly, RI to be celebrated by her grandson. Interment will follow in St. Sebastian’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN, 38181.
