Obituary for Dennis Franklin Powell

Dennis Franklin Powell, 50, lifelong resident of Hartford, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Hartford Hospital. He was born April 6, 1964, son of the late John Franklin and Joyce Elizabeth (Crabbe) Powell. He attended Hartford schools and graduated from Bulkeley High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, stationed in Germany prior to his discharge. Dennis was employed at The Club Package Store of Hartford for 25 years. Dennis will be missed and remembered by his siblings; two brothers, John Larry Powell and his partner Deborah Manley, of Hartford, Kenneth Allen Powell of Florida; a sister, Becki Snurkowski and her husband Michael, of Stonington; four nieces and nephews, Tim Manning and Utopia, John (Tony) Manning, Kelly Robinson and partner Mistie and Eric Snurkowski; in addition, seven great nieces and nephews, Brooke, Kayla, Kyra, Alyssa, Luke, J.J. and Brayden; as well as his close friends Caesar and Roger and his many friends from years of serving the public at work. In addition to his parents, Dennis was predeceased by his brother, Jimmy Lee Powell. Friends and relatives may call on the family Friday, March 20, 2015 from 5-8pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating Dennis’s life will be held Saturday, March 21st at 10am in St. Peter Church, 160 Main St., Hartford. Burial will be private. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Dennis’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
