Obituary for Kathryn "Kay" O'Connor (Lavery)

Kathryn (Lavery) O’Connor, “Kay”, 94 of Glastonbury CT peacefully entered into Eternal Rest on January 29, 2015 to be with her loving husband John O’Connor with whom she shared 60 wonderful years of marriage until his passing March 2, 2010. Born January 25, 1921 she was the youngest of 10 children of Helena Suprenant and John Lavery. She was predeceased by her sisters, Theresa Linnon, Monica Klett, Rita Toner, Helen Leddy and her brothers Dick, Fran, Eddie, Gerry, and Ray.
She loved quilting, knitting, crossword puzzles and reading. She enjoyed listening to the radio and her canary “Sunny” sing every day. She always found time to make knitted sweaters and quilts for her family as well as many friends. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren who gave her so much to be proud of and always made her smile. They brought so much joy to her life!
Holidays were always a very special time in the O’Connor home; St Patrick’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas were always something we all looked forward to with Kay’s fancy Irish china and crystal. Very special memories that will never be forgotten, along with Kay’s “fashion” of having her slacks, blouses, sweaters, shoes and even her wrist watch band color-coordinated on a daily basis.
She leaves three loving sons Rick and his wife Evelyn of Bolton, Brian and his wife Debbie of Glastonbury, Kevin and his wife Trudy of Marlborough. Her grandson Danny and his wife Jessica, and their sons, her great grandchildren, Quinn and Keegan of Charlestown, NH. Three granddaughters Jaime of Manchester, CT, Caitlin of Millbrae, CA, and Rachel of Marlborough, CT. Many dear nieces, nephews and friends who were always there for her.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Tuesday, February 3, at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave, Glastonbury from 4 – 5:30 pm. A memorial service will be held at 5:30 pm.
Kay’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Glastonbury Health Care Center for all the love and care they gave to her over the past year.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Kay’s favorite charity St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude PL, Memphis TN 38105.
