Mary (Wilkos) Bogon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Glastonbury Health Care Center. She was the devoted wife of Edward C. Bogon for 46 years prior to his death in 1989. She was born in Hartford May 12, 1923 daughter to the late George and Agnes Wilkos. Mary loved dancing (especially the Polka), music, animals and was known by the flowers in her hair. She was a faithful member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church and a proud graduate of SS. Cyril and Methodius School. Mary was an active member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church Ladies Guild; Golden Seniors; and the Polish Cultural Club of Greater Hartford, Inc.; and St. Agnes Guild. She was proud of her heritage and active in supporting both Polish and various charitable causes. Mrs. Bogon worked at the Southern New England Telephone Company, G.Fox & Co., and CIGNA. Mary is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Ronald Romanowski, of Marlborough; Carol and Robert Phelan, of Bolton; her grandson and his wife, Ryan and Linda (Olszewski) Romanowski, of Darien; and her great grandchildren, Lilly and Luke Romanowski. She also leaves a niece and her husband, Janine (Wilkos) and Tex Kelly of Amherst, MA; a nephew and his wife, Kevin and Sue Anne (Provera) Wilkos, of Niantic, CT; a nephew, Craig Wilkos of NY; several great nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mary's family would like to thank the following special friends for their many kindnesses to our mother: Irene Guzek, Anita Kokoszka, Stephanie Otfinowski. We also would like to extend our deep appreciation to Donna Brazdzionis for the care and consideration she gave to our mother in her final year. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 10am in SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, 63 Popieluszko Court, Hartford, CT. Burial will be private at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, CT. Arrangements are being handled by the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield, CT. In honoring Mary's love of animals and her little rescue dog "Gypsy," memorial donations may be made to the: Sadie Mae Foundation Animal Rescue League, Inc., c/o Mrs. Brenda Albert, P.O.
