Obituary for Catherine C. Barrera (Canty)

“I once was lost, but now am found” Catherine (Canty) Barrera, our Mother, Grandmother, our G’ma, went to her eternal rest on Tuesday December 2, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband Henry A. Barrera and son Henry Michael Barrera. Catherine was born in Manhattan, NY, daughter of the late Michael and Anna (McCormick) Canty. She lived for many years in Pocomoke City, MD where she had many close friends, especially Mary Frey and her family. She has spent the past nine years living with her daughter Pat Abramoske of East Hartford. G’ma would never miss watching the NY Yankees, although growing up she was a NY (baseball) Giant fan. Every night she would watch Bill O’Reilly and discuss with Dan all the events of the day. She enjoyed history and gave Dan much insight into the Depression and war years. Catherine just celebrated her 90th birthday on November 8th. Besides her daughter Pat, she is survived by her daughter Kathleen Cullen and her husband Edward, of Farmingdale NY and her daughter-in-law Linda Barrera of Atkinson, NH. Her life was blessed with her 7 grandchildren, Staci DerGarabedian and her husband Paul, Nicole Mack and her husband Karl, Amanda Albert and her husband Paul, Bryan Abramoske and his wife Katie, Daniel Abramoske and his girlfriend Justine Kokoszka, Jennifer Raleigh and her husband Shawn and Edward Michael Cullen. She boasted about having 7 Great-grandchildren, Alexa DerGarabedian, Hailey and Cailyn Albert, Anja and Spencer Mack, William Abramoske and Patrick Raleigh. Friends may call Saturday December 6, 2014 from 8:30 to 10:30 am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield, CT 06109. The funeral will be held at 10:30 am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Corpus Christi Church 601 Silas Deane Hwy Wethersfield, CT 06109.
