Obituary for Helen Kavanaugh (Driscoll)

Helen D. Kavanaugh, 96, enjoyed a long, happy life and died peacefully on November 22, 2014. She was born in Hartford to the late Patrick T. and Nora (McCormick) Driscoll. She attended Bulkeley High School, Hartford and Bay Path College in Massachusetts. She was employed by the Travelers Insurance Company as an Assistant Chief Underwriter for over 30 years, prior to that she worked for The Two Hartfords and the Navy Department. She has lived in Hartford, Simsbury and most recently Glastonbury to be closer to her daughter. Her most joyous time was spent with her family. She loved watching her 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren grow up and sharing in their celebrations and accomplishments. Some of her favorite places to visit were Bermuda, Italy, Ireland, the Florida Keys and summers at the CT shore with her family. She was an avid exercise enthusiast participating in water aerobics, yoga and daily walks. Going to Foxwoods to play Bingo and the slots with her sister, was always an adventure for her. Helen leaves behind her daughter, Nancy Kavanaugh and her life partner Donald H. Roy, of Manchester, her much loved grandchildren, Richard Frankovits and his wife Martina of Little Falls, New Jersey and their children Hannah, Max, Jake and Luke; Jody Marie Frankovits of San Tan Valley Arizona; Jaime F. Lee of Hartford and her daughter Jessica Lee of Clearlake California. She also leaves her brother John D. Driscoll and his wife Ann of West Hartford. She is also survived by her special niece, Patti S. Juda and her husband Michael of Simsbury CT. as well as several other nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her sister and best friend, Nancy A. Sullivan on July 8, 2014.The family would like to thank the staff of the Mountain Laurel Memory Care Unit and Hospice Vitas for their outstanding care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Memory Care Unit, Mountain Laurel, 1177 Hebron Ave, Glastonbury, CT 06033 or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 50 St Jude Place, Memphis,TN 38105.
Friends may call on Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 9 to 10am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury, followed by a Mass of Christian at 10:30am in St Paul Church, 2577 Main St. Glastonbury CT.
