Obituary for Janet N. Ward (Wyka)

Janet N. (Wyka) Ward, 84, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of Frederick F. Ward, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. Janet was born August 15, 1930 and raised in Hartford. She is the daughter of the late Stanley and Aniela “Nellie” (Paz) Wyka. Following her graduation from the Hartford School System, she continued her education at Hillyer College (University of Hartford) where she earned her associates degree. Janet and Fred moved their family to Wethersfield in 1969, where they became members of the Church of the Incarnation, as well as the Wethersfield Country Club. Janet was employed by Saint Francis Hospital and then by her Godfather, Mitchell Koziol, at Mitchell Machine & Screw Company in Glastonbury. Her greatest joy was as a mother and caring for her family. Janet will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her her husband, Fred, of 64 years, three sons and their families: Frederick F. Ward II and his wife Joy, Terence “Terry” S. Ward and his wife, Donna Fiorentino, all of West Hartford, Timothy “Tim” D. Ward, and his wife, Alison Bibbins Ward, of Rocky Hill; five cherished grandchildren, Roxie, Francie, Max, Rosemary and Jacob Ward.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Ward Family on Sunday, November 2nd, 2014 from 3:00-6:00 PM at the Farley Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield, Connecticut. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Janet’s life will be held Monday, November 3rd at 10:00 AM in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Interment will follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery (Section 29), 453 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations are made in Janet’s memory to the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St. Wethersfield, CT 06109.
