Marjorie “Marge” Elizabeth (McGee) Gilbert, 87, of Wethersfield, loving wife of 68 years to Edward W. Gilbert, passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 25, 2014 at home with her family by her side. Marjorie was born in Montreal, Canada, July 15, 1927, the daughter of Adaline (Rathbun) and William Dalton McGee. She moved to Wethersfield at the age of six, attended the Wethersfield School System, graduating from Wethersfield High Class of 1945. Marge was a self made person, who was employed for many years at the Wethersfield Post as the Advertising Sales Manager. After leaving the Post, Marge joined the Baxter Reynolds Personnel Agency as a recruiter for major Hartford area companies. Then she was a partner with the ETC. Personnel Consultants before starting the Marge Gilbert Associates in Rocky Hill and finally was an Ad Representative with the Wethersfield Life, retiring in 2010. Marge was a member and Past-President of the American Legion Auxiliary, Bourne-Keeney Post 23 of Wethersfield and the Corpus Christi Church Women’s Club. She was also a former Mrs. Wethersfield. Along with her husband Edward, Marge will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Marjorie Lynne Leonard and her husband Fred, of East Hartford, Beth Graywolf and her husband Shane, of Bloomfield; and her two cherished grandchildren, Shelby Osbeck of Farmington and Joseph Groll of East Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Marge’s life will be held Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11:30am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Interment will follow the Mass in Rose Hill Memorial Park (Section 12) 581 Elm St. Rocky Hill. Marge’s family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Wethersfield Volunteer Ambulance Association, Prospect St. Wethersfield, CT 06109.
